America’s Family Pet Expo

April 18, 2012 — Leave a comment

America’s Family Pet Expo is the world’s largest pet and pet product expo and is returning to Orange County this weekend. Over 1,000 animals including dogs, cats, equine, birds, fish, llamas, pot-bellied pigs, goats, rats, reptiles, rabbits, miniature horses and more are on display in stage shows, competitions and demonstrations. There are thousands of pet products for sale at special show prices and plenty of animal experts, pet adoptions, hands-on petting and learning opportunities.

Kid’s Aquarium Contest

There are many contests such as the Kid’s Aquarium Contest. This is a captivating learning program designed to teach children about the environment, stimulate their minds, ignite their creativity and warm their hearts through the rewards of pet care.

The first building block of the Kid’s Aquarium Contest is Creativity. The children are challenged to design a fish aquarium that reflects their personality or showcases their favorite hobby. Pirates of the Caribbean, a baseball field and outer space adventures are a few that have received top ranks. Ten gallon aquarium kits complete with a filter, lighting, heater, thermometer and net are donated and sponsored for each entrant by aquatic companies.

Reptile Show And Sale

Explore and find dozens of varieties of reptiles at the Reptile Show and Sale. From lizards and snakes to tarantulas – of all colors, shapes and sizes – you will have the opportunity to interact with hands-on demonstrations, touching and holding the reptiles. A portion of proceeds will benefit The United States Association of Reptile Keepers (USARK), an education and advocacy group promoting awareness and responsible care of reptiles.

Learn about reptile care and enjoy exciting presentations such as the Venom to Medicine Reptile Presentation. Presented by Forever Wild Exotic Animal Sanctuary and Loma Linda University, this presentation discusses the fact that diabetes, liver disease, stroke and thrombosis have all been treated with drugs originally derived from venom.
