Grill masters from around the country will gather at Queen Mary’s Waterfront Events Park to compete for the title of West Coast’s Best BBQ. Let your taste buds rage over which barbecue style is king. The Queen Mary’s 2nd Annual West Coast BBQ Classic is an official California-State-Certified, KCBS-Sanctioned, BBQ Championship sponsored by Jack Daniel’s. Sixty top BBQ Pit Masters from around the country will compete for thousands of dollars in prize money and the opportunity to be crowned as the winner of the coveted “People’s Choice” award, including 2012 Champion All Sauced Up. “We have nearly tripled our competitors this year” said Director of Special Events Steve Sheldon, “Our team registration sold out in record pace. We are thrilled to offer such a vast field of teams this year.”
Held at the Queen Mary Waterfront Events Park, the event features live bands, a Jack Daniel’s Back Yard Bar, Merchant Market, Kid’s Country including obstacle course, and Adult Lawn Games area with giant beer pong, there will also be a special appearance by The LA King’s Ice Crew.
West Coasters from near and far are invited to join top pit masters from around the country at this one-day BBQ Championship featuring music by local favorites: Knyght Ryder, The Record Company, and The Shoemaker Brothers.
Located in the Port of Long Beach, the Queen Mary features a rich maritime history, authentic Art Deco décor, and stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and Long Beach city skyline. At the time of her maiden voyage in May of 1936, she was considered the grandest ocean liner ever built. The Queen Mary’s signature restaurants include the award-winning Sir Winston’s Restaurant and Lounge and Chelsea Chowder House and Bar as well as a weekly Champagne Sunday Brunch served in the ship’s Grand Salon.
History buffs enjoy the ship’s museum and Glory Days tour, guests of all ages love the Ghosts and Legends show, and the ship is currently featuring the renowned Diana: Legacy of a Princess exhibit and Tea Room. The Queen Mary features 80,000 square feet of event space in 17 remarkable Art Deco salons as well as a tri-level, 45,000-square-foot Exhibit Hall. The Queen Mary boasts 314 staterooms including nine full suites.
