The 3rd Annual Zeitgeist Media Festival (ZMF), uniting the world through socially conscious art, is happening in Los Angeles at the historic Avalon in Hollywood, coupled with numerous sympathetic events occurring around the world on the same weekend, showing global solidarity.
This not-for-profit Activist Arts Festival features music, visual and interactive art, comedy, film speakers, and theatric. With over 30 performances/screenings, this seven hour event will be a landmark experience. The event also features promotion for many social causes and is about information as much as it is about aesthetic.
Prior years talent has included live performances and presentations by chart topping South African Songwriter Cofield Mundi, world-renowned Sufi singer and composer Sussan Deyhim, Emmy nominated TV writer (“Heroes”, “Touch”) Tim Kring, international best-selling author and lecturer Marianne Williamson, violin virtuoso and activist Lili Haydn, acting icons Rutger Hauer and Charles Fleischer, and many more. Film short screenings, which are a large part of each festival, has featured James Cromwell, Jason Taylor, Mark Magidson, George Langworthy, and many more.
Attendees are encouraged to contribute a small canned/sealed food donation to support the poverty-stricken in Los Angeles in association with the LA Food Bank. ZMF supports the local community through Food Drives each year. Please bring a canned food donation if possible. In 2011/2012, the ZMF raised over 20,000 Meals for the poor in Los Angeles.
Recognizing the power of art and media to help change the world, the annual Zeitgeist Media Festival bridges the artistic and activist communities in the hope to inspire change. It recognizes that deeply needed, radical changes in the structural/economic workings of society can only manifest in tandem with a personal/social transformation of values in each of us.
