State Social House

February 24, 2014 — Leave a comment

State Social House opened in the former Red Rock space in early May 2013. The space offers three social setting: a dining area on the 1st floor, a Piano Bar on the 2nd floor, and a Smoker’s Lounge next door called The Backroom where a selection of cigars are available for purchase in the lounge. They also offer free weekly events!

Chef Vernon Cardenas, formerly of Innovative Dining Group (Katana) and Pink Taco, has put together a delicious menu of the best tasting pub food you’ve ever had. Like his Whiskey Burger slathered with Jameson-onion jam. Or his mouth-watering Mac & Cheese – a melted blend of cheddar, gruyere, gouda, and bacon! Kobe Meatballs. Buffalo Wings. Shrimp Ceviche. Pizzas. Salads. And steak, seafood, and pasta plates to satisfy the heavier appetites.

Take a seat at one of their four bars and you’ll have your choice of 20 draft beers (Allagash, Angry Orchard, Firestone, and Green Flash to name a few). Try one of their beer cocktails like the Brewjito (strawberry, mint, lime, agave, and Allagash White Belgium Ale) or The Hidden Gun (Irish Whiskey, Amero, orange bitters, and Guinness Stout). Not a beer drinker? Not a problem. They’ve got the freshest and tastiest Specialty Drinks around like the Sunset Strip (Don Julio anejo tequila, mint, sugar, grapefruit, and fresh lime) or the Thai’d Up (Akvinta Vodka, strawberry, balsamic vinegar, basil, and lemon).

They offer live music upstairs nightly. Sit in one of their oversized lounge chairs and enjoy the music while overlooking the hustle and bustle of Sunset Blvd.

Plus they have 20 TV’s to watch your favorite sports games.

You can smoke here with no one to make you feel guilty. It’s allowed! Located right next door, they’ve managed to find a safe place for smokers to feel welcome and loved without offending our diners next door. They have open air lounge seating under the stars. Or sit in their Cigar Bar and enjoy the head on views of the Sunset Strip. Didn’t bring anything to smoke? Don’t worry, they have a large selection of cigars and cigarettes to satisfy your craving.

Each Sunday, State Social House has their version of Sunday Funday called “Social Sundays”. Drinks, food, and the view of the Sunset Strip bring a great crowd out for socializing before the dreaded Monday return to work!

Each Sunday Night Karaoke takes place on the top floor of State Social House, better known as “The Attic”. For your readers who can carry a tune to those that sound better in the shower, Karaoke in the Attic is fun for everyone!

Each Wednesday George Holdcroft hops on the Piano and covers , they can stop by State Social House for Piano Nights w/ Pianist George Holdcroft.

Long Beach is one giant playground located right in the heart of Southern California. The city hosts to a number of events and serves as a hub for maritime commerce and entertainment. Here you can experience it all from a deep sea adventure at the Aquarium of the Pacific right on the bay and a voyage in time aboard the historic Queen Mary to lively guided tours through downtown and the colorful East Village. Visit the Long Beach Harbor and learn its history, as well as see the beautiful Long Beach skyline, California Sea Lions playing in the harbor, large cargo and container ships from all over the world, and much more.

The Harbor’s Evolution From Mud-Flats To Worldport

In 1542 Portuguese Navigator Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo discovered a small backwater of mud flats, which he named the “Bay of Smokes.” He could not have dreamed of the transformation his discovery would undergo in the future. It was to become the Port of Los Angeles. Situated 5,000 miles from the UK, 35 miles from Hollywood, and 20 miles from Disneyland, it is now known as “Worldport LA“. With a total of 3,700 land-acres, and the same figure over water, it combines the ports of San Pedro, Wilmington, and Long Beach. Read more here.

Ports O’ Call Village is a wonderful tourist area at the side of the San Pedro Channel with over one hundred restaurants and shops to choose from. The restaurants run the length of the village, with excellent food to suit all tastes.

Funky, fun, and completely unpretentious, Cheebo in Hollywood is organic chic, with big flavors, good products, and a level of skill in even the simplest preparations that makes the ordinary deeply satisfying.

The cibo (Italian for “food”) is surprisingly good at this whimsical and cartoonish joint. But what really makes it stand out is its incredible happy hour!

The ultimate happy hour includes:

  • A soft drink, glass of wine or tap beer
  • Soup, house salad, fries or side of escarole
  • Any pizza, pasta or chicken/tuna sandwich

All for only $12.95! This includes free valet from noon to 2pm and 7pm to close.

Try the “Porkwich,” a slow-roasted, moist, seriously flavorful organic pork, layered with onion, melted manchego cheese, very thin slices of crunchy dill pickles and tarragon mayonnaise on a choice of five different breads. Atkins types can even have it “plated,” which is with no bread at all.

Cheebo‘s unique selling point is pizza by the yard. The art is in the dough, which is given a pleasant tang by the incorporation of longer-fermented dough. Recommended toppings include sausage and fennel, or a combination of mozzarella, goat cheese, fresh tomato, and a scattering of fresh artichokes and olives. Check out the full menu here.

Cheebo is committed to serving healthy, homemade food of the highest quality at a fair price. They use organic or all natural sustainable products free of hormones, antibiotics and nitrates.

There’s much more than meets the eye, so come and bare your tattoos and bring the kids. They’ll love doodling on the paper-covered tables as you play one of the board games stacked on the counter. Check out the space here.

So, what are you waiting for, get your Cheebo on!
