When you visit Farm Sanctuary’s Animal Acres shelter, you’ll know right away that it is a special place. Their sanctuaries are home to rescued cows, pigs, turkeys, and other farm animals — and each has a special story. Their stories of struggle and survival, against all odds, give the public insight into the realities farm animals face in the modern factory farming industry, but also introduce us to inspiring individuals through their heartwarming tales.

Animals who began their lives abused and neglected now spend their days digging in the dirt, basking in the sun, and napping in the straw. Each animal is given the freedom and attention needed not only to recover but to thrive.

The Wildlife Learning Center rescues animals and provides outreach and on site education in wildlife biology. The outreach program is the largest in Los Angeles with classes taught by their friendly and enthusiastic biologists. The center is nestled in an old olive grove where more than 70 different species of rescued and zoo-born wild animals call this shady, natural environment home.

Stroll along the paths and enjoy viewing the animals or sign up for a more intimate experience with a customized tour or animal interaction. Be sure to catch their trainer talks happening on the hour every hour starting at 12 pm. During their trainer talks one of their staff members will introduce an animal to meet up close and sometimes even touch!
