This discussion is part of Abstraction in Action, a series of events on the subject of Contemporary Abstraction and its relevance across cultures, focusing in particular on Latin America, created through the SPACE Art Collection, which is housed at newly-debuted SPACE Headquarters in Irvine, California and is an integral division of SPACE, a visionary platform that unites entrepreneurship, art and technology. SPACE Art Collection is the only collection in the United States focused on post 1990s Latin American Abstraction and is committed to inspiring and expanding the understanding of Latin American Abstraction within the global context.

Barnsdall Art Park’s Croquet, Champagne, Oysters fall fundraiser promises to be an unforgettable afternoon of fun and games where you can get competitive or just relax! Swing into the holidays on the West Lawn of FLW’s recently reopened UNESCO-nominated Hollyhock House for some good old-fashioned fun with croquet, bubbly, and oysters! All are invited including kids, no experience is required and prizes abound. They encourage guests to don traditional white garb and hats with the favorite hat receiving an extra tasting!

Cal King and KCRW DJ Wilcox will provide the day’s entertainment. Enjoy a 3-flight sparkling wine tasting by famed Silverlake Wine and croquet will be brought to you by the Pasadena Croquet Association. Local artisanal cheese purveyor, Say Cheese, will be offering guests an array of picnic baskets, available for pre-order. Oyster lovers are also in luck with The Oyster Gourmet bringing its refreshing and flavorful selection to the Park. Food trucks – Postcards Soul Fusion and Bar 1969 – will also be on hand to serve brunch. Guests are also welcome to bring their own blankets and picnics.

Introducing the first-ever OFF THE HOOK Santa Monica Seafood Festival, a seafood tasting and community awareness event on the Santa Monica Pier in celebration of National Seafood Month.

The event will bring the city’s finest chefs together to present dishes with their favorite underwater ingredients while raising funds and awareness for the sustainable seafood movement through a partnership with the Aquarium of the Pacific’s Seafood for the Future program.

Presented by Shock Top, attendees will enjoy all-you-can-eat seafood tastings, beer gardens, live music, interactive displays, cooking demos, oyster shucking competition, educational programming, with topics such as “What is ‘Local’ Seafood,” “History of Fishing on the Pier,” “How We Can Support Local Fisherman,” and “Understanding Where Your Fish Comes From,” as well as other marine-inspired activities.
