Now in its fifth year, coinciding with the 100th Anniversary of the famed iconic restaurant, the 2014 Yamashiro Farmers Market, organized by Yamashiro Hollywood and City Farm, will run every Thursday through September 4th, 2014.

This year Chef Brock Kleweno and his team at the “Yamashiro Grill” are bringing back the popular Brock Kleweno’s Taco menu, which will include a Miso-Glazed Black Cod Taco, Duck Confit Taco with Spiced Hoisin & Blood Orange Salsa, Red Wine & Sake-Braised Short Rib Taco, and a Pulled Chicken Taco with a Spicy Peanut Sauce, Pickled Cucumbers, and Onions. “Having received so many requests over the years, we’re excited to bring the tacos back for their fans,” said Kleweno.

Yamshiro’s Pagoda Bar will be open for drinks and light fare each week, and will feature the signature acoustics of DJ LC on May 22, June 26, July 31, and September 4.

During the Farmers Market, Yamashiro will be open for dinner and reservations may be made by calling the restaurant. Valet parking at Yamashiro is available to dinner guests of the restaurant.

The Sunset Strip Market is a weekly certified farmers’ market committed to enhancing the community by providing fresh, California-grown produce and artisan goods. The goal of the Market is to create a space that encourages nearby residents, employees, farmers, and visitors to interact with each other. The Sunset Strip Market emerged from a shared vision between business owners and residents to create a community-based event that would engage residents as well as showcase The Sunset Strip.

The Sunset Strip Market is happy to provide guests with unique food experiences. From the carefully curated certified farmers’ market to cooking demos, chef specials, and wine tastings, the market will engage your senses. The market hosts a wine and beer garden/pairing area with rotating options. The garden focuses on sustainable, organic California wineries and local breweries. Guests ages 21 and older may enjoy the garden.

The Sunset Strip Market was developed by a committee of dedicated business owners and residents. Members of the committee include Nick Mathers (owner, the Eveleigh), David Vialli (general manager, The Standard, Hollywood), Bruce Silberman (owner, Allied Parking) and Nic Adler (owner, The Roxy Theatre). Diana Rodgers, a respected leader in community farmers’ markets, curated the certified farmers and vendors. Steve Portigiani created the site map and plan.

The community spirit of the market also extends to the entertainment stage, which showcases local artists and features live music performances each week.

The Sunset Strip Market is happy to provide an enhanced farm-to-table dining experience within the outdoor space. Throughout the year, the market partners with various California wineries and breweries to showcase their product, which will be paired with market fresh food offerings. Guests ages 21 and older may enjoy tastings or pair their drink with a full meal or other fare available at the market.

If you don’t want to carry your produce with you while you shop or enjoy dinner at one of The Sunset Strip’s many establishments, then let them hold them for you. The “Veggie Valet” station is located at the info booth, near the Market’s west entrance. Suggested donation is $1 per bag. Please note that all bags must be picked up by Market closing time: 10:00 p.m. While all bags will be stored in a safe area, they are not responsible for any loss. Refrigeration is not provided.

The Yamashiro Farmers Market is a seasonal farmers market organized by City Farm with a pretty spectacular view at the Hollywood hilltop Japanese restaurant Yamashiro. The market includes a wide selection of vendors selling fresh produce, great wine, coffee, jewelry, and unique cuisine.

Hillside Family Farms will be ferrying fresh produce from San Diego County, with fresh berries from New Era Farms. Heirloom LA, CoolHaus ice cream, Flatiron food truck and Bolani East West Gourmet will set up at the market, as well as Hepp’s Salt, Longshot Espresso, and Dolce Monachelli’s cakes. Yamashiro’s Pagoda Bar will be open for drinks.

Yamashiro executive chef Brock Kleweno is debuting a revamped menu of Middle Eastern-meets-Asian pitas: preserved lemon and honey chicken with pistachio-sesame sauce; merguez braised lamb with shiso tatziki; harissa shrimp with cucumber relish; and “shwarma”-marinated beef with citrus tahini.

They have a wide selection of vendors selling fresh produce, great wine, coffee, jewelry, and unique cuisine. Set in the parking lot outside Yamashiro, the majestic CalAsian restaurant, patrons can stroll from booth to booth, sampling Nicholas Family Farms’ fresh juices such as mandarin and grapefruit, or buying ripe roses from Eufloria, a sixth-generation flower-farming business. There is also organic chicken and pimenton, Spanish paprika, from the foodie truck Gourmet on Wheels. Wine and dine at your own leisure and under the stars overlooking the city.
