MAINopoly: Taste of Main Street

The 2nd Annual MAINopoly: Taste of Main Street event will take place at the street’s best food and beverage establishments to raise funds for Summer SOULstice and Heal the Bay. MAINopoly is a fun, interactive community event that mirrors the classic board game and gives participants a culinary walking tour of Main Street’s finest restaurants, juiceries, ice cream stores, coffee shops and more.

Attendees will receive food tastings in exchange for “MAINopoly” dollars, which will include items such as fresh fish ceviche from Enterprise Fish Co., gelato samples from Dolcenero Gelato, tuna tartare from Areal Restaurant, cold press juice samples from Pressed Juicery and more. Select restaurants will also be offering drink specials, including $4 draft beers and $5 cocktails and $5 shots for those with the official event wristband.

Other activities include beer gardens and the “Go to Jail” VIP lounge and Beer Garden sponsored by Shock Top with a DJ, photo booth, drinks, food, picnic tables, games and more. All participants are encouraged to dress in “Monopoly”-inspired or patriotic attire and to hit all of the locations on their game board to be entered to win a “Taste of Main Street” prize package.

The inaugural MAINopoly: Taste of Main Street event will take place at the street’s best food and beverage establishments to raise funds for Summer SOULstice and Heal the Bay. MAINopoly is a fun, interactive community event that mirrors the classic board game and gives participants a culinary tour of Main Street’s finest restaurants, juiceries, coffee shops, and bars.

Attendees will receive food tastings in exchange for special MAINopoly dollars, which will include items such as as fresh fish ceviche from Enterprise Fish Co., goat cheese en pan tostada from Manchego, famed Magic Brownies from M Street Kitchen, Captain Ron’s Mac n Cheese from The Galley, Freddos Iced Coffee from Peet’s, California Rolls from Tsukiji Sushi Sen, and more. Select restaurants will also be offering special happy hour menus and drink specials such as $4 draft beers and $5 cocktails and shots, to those with the official event wristband.

Street Food Cinema

Street Food Cinema is the hit outdoor entertainment event series that combines four carefully curated experiences into one amazing event with popular outdoor movies, street food, audience games, live music, and more!

This summer, Street Food Cinema is bringing more movies, more food, and more fun to Los Angeles. In addition to their regular season, Street Food Cinema is partnering with the City of Glendale for July and August to bring this summer event series to downtown Glendale’s Central Park. Street Food Cinema: Glendale Series will further enrich Glendale’s expanding focus to bring unique and exciting entertainment to the city.

National Geographic Presents: Brain Games

The National Geographic Channel invites you to a special event the network is hosting to celebrate an all-new season of its hit series Brain Games, which premieres on January 13, 2014. Fans will have the chance to participate in four different mind-blowing experiences and become part of illusions that trick the mind and ignite curiosity, showcasing the extraordinary nature of the human brain, as part of an interactive campaign leading up to the season premiere. The Brain Games Illusions Gallery will allow participants to immerse themselves in the world of reality-bending games by taking part in four interactive illusions and learning the “why” behind the “wow.”

“It’s always surprising to discover how the most complicated organ in the universe — the brain — can be so easily hacked and fooled,” said Jason Silva, host, Brain Games. “By having fans participate in this Brain Games adventure, they will learn an immense amount about how their brains work!”

Here’s a sneak peak of the illusions that will be featured at the Brain Games Illusions Gallery:

  • Small Person in Chair – Designed to trick the eye’s perception, this illusion features a chair that will shrink visitors down to a fraction of their natural size. This illusion will have everyone second-guessing whether it’s the person that is really small or the chair that’s oddly large.
  • Upside Down Room – Could Isaac Newton have been wrong? This illusion will have guests standing on the ceiling of a living room leaving everyone to wonder which way is up and which way is down. Could it be? Or, was the room built to see things from a different perspective?
  • Levitation – Brain-trickery is a funny thing. This experiment will have jaws on the floor as participants levitate alongside a NatGeo logo. Those who attend the event will learn the secret power behind this illusion, an impressive example of how things aren’t always what they may seem.
  • Head On Table – Pushing the envelope of mystery, this illusion will bring the mind to thinking the impossible: participants heads sitting on a table, detached from their body. In this experiment, mirrors play a deceptive role.
