Most of us have visited the Getty Center, but did you know the Center has a sister museum in Malibu and owes its existence to her?

Opened in 1974, the Getty Villa is an educational center and museum dedicated to the study of the arts and cultures of ancient Greece, Rome, and Etruria.

In both its art collection and setting, the Getty villa reflects antiquities enduring inspiration. It celebrates the famed architecture of Italy’s bay of Naples. Symbolized in the form of an archeological site and as the ancient Romans may have envisioned their ideal surroundings.

Over the years the collections grew to include a conservation institute, a research institute, and educational programs. To house these growing activities, the Getty Center was built.

Admission to the Getty Villa is always FREE; an advance, timed-entry ticket is required. Parking is $15.
