West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval

Hundreds of thousands of Halloween revelers are expected to flock to Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood for the 2013 West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval on Halloween night. One of the world’s largest Halloween celebrations, the West Hollywood Halloween Costume Carnaval will be held along Santa Monica Boulevard from Doheny Drive to La Cienega Boulevard.

The largest Halloween street party in the world happens in West Hollywood! Each year, more than 500,000 people take to the streets of Santa Monica Boulevard to enjoy the craziest, most eccentric costume creations ever at the West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval. You can expect fantastic live entertainment and food vendors.

The Carnaval is obviously the main event and draw, but several of the hotels, bars, and lounges in West Hollywood hold events the weekend and days leading up to the official holiday such as The Abbey.

The Sunset Strip Market

The Sunset Strip Market is a weekly certified farmers’ market committed to enhancing the community by providing fresh, California-grown produce and artisan goods. The goal of the Market is to create a space that encourages nearby residents, employees, farmers, and visitors to interact with each other. The Sunset Strip Market emerged from a shared vision between business owners and residents to create a community-based event that would engage residents as well as showcase The Sunset Strip.

The Sunset Strip Market is happy to provide guests with unique food experiences. From the carefully curated certified farmers’ market to cooking demos, chef specials, and wine tastings, the market will engage your senses. The market hosts a wine and beer garden/pairing area with rotating options. The garden focuses on sustainable, organic California wineries and local breweries. Guests ages 21 and older may enjoy the garden.

The Sunset Strip Market was developed by a committee of dedicated business owners and residents. Members of the committee include Nick Mathers (owner, the Eveleigh), David Vialli (general manager, The Standard, Hollywood), Bruce Silberman (owner, Allied Parking) and Nic Adler (owner, The Roxy Theatre). Diana Rodgers, a respected leader in community farmers’ markets, curated the certified farmers and vendors. Steve Portigiani created the site map and plan.

The community spirit of the market also extends to the entertainment stage, which showcases local artists and features live music performances each week.

The Sunset Strip Market is happy to provide an enhanced farm-to-table dining experience within the outdoor space. Throughout the year, the market partners with various California wineries and breweries to showcase their product, which will be paired with market fresh food offerings. Guests ages 21 and older may enjoy tastings or pair their drink with a full meal or other fare available at the market.

If you don’t want to carry your produce with you while you shop or enjoy dinner at one of The Sunset Strip’s many establishments, then let them hold them for you. The “Veggie Valet” station is located at the info booth, near the Market’s west entrance. Suggested donation is $1 per bag. Please note that all bags must be picked up by Market closing time: 10:00 p.m. While all bags will be stored in a safe area, they are not responsible for any loss. Refrigeration is not provided.

The market hosts various entertainment each week, from live performers to outdoor games. So bring your friends and family to this community gathering for healthy eats and refreshing drinks.

West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval

The largest Halloween street party in the world happens in West Hollywood! Each year, more than 500,000 people take to the streets of Santa Monica Boulevard to enjoy the craziest, most eccentric costume creations ever at the West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval. You can expect fantastic live entertainment and food vendors.

The Carnaval is obviously the main event and draw, but several of the hotels, bars, and lounges in West Hollywood hold events the weekend and days leading up to the official holiday.

Live Entertainment

This year, The Carnaval will feature 3 main stages adorned in 1950’s Comic Strip themed decor: The Drag Hotel of Horrors (at San Vicente Blvd.), Dungeon of Sin (at Almont Dr.), and Thrills and Chills (at La Cienega).

Live acts and Performers

  • Tranzcontinental, performing on the San Vicente Stage – Drag Hotel of Horrors
  • Vaud & The Villains, performing on the Almont Stage – Dungeon of Sin
  • The Orchestra Surreal
  • Zen Freeman
  • The Carnaval’s headlining act, Hedwig & The Angry Inch.

For revelers looking to put their dancing shoes to good use, expect 3 smaller stages and dance floors: Demon Dance Club (at W. Westbourne), Turntable of Terror (at N. Palm), and Undead Dance Hall (at N. La Peer).

DJ’s and MC’s to perform: DJ Max Von Ville, DJ Moses Truzman, DJ Aaron Colbert, MC Ant, and MC Pete Giovine.
